        |  | R E S O L U T I O N | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, Jacob Clifton was named the Online Newspaper Editor | 
      
        |  | of the Year at the Interscholastic League Press Conference Spring | 
      
        |  | Convention held in Austin on April 18-19, 2015; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, A senior at Groom High School, Mr. Clifton is | 
      
        |  | editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, the Times of the Tiger; he | 
      
        |  | was chosen for the prestigious accolade out of a large field of | 
      
        |  | nominees from 1A through 6A schools across the state, and his | 
      
        |  | leadership and skills were further recognized when the publication | 
      
        |  | was included on the Distinguished Merit list; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, Mr. Clifton also stays active on campus as a member | 
      
        |  | of the football and UIL academic teams, and he is a valued | 
      
        |  | congregant of White Deer United Methodist Church; planning to | 
      
        |  | pursue a career as a licensed paramedic, he has completed the | 
      
        |  | Emergency Medical Technician-Basic course and is currently taking | 
      
        |  | the Advanced EMT class; and | 
      
        |  | WHEREAS, By contributing to a well-informed student body at | 
      
        |  | Groom High, this talented young journalist has earned the respect | 
      
        |  | and admiration of his teachers and classmates, and he may indeed | 
      
        |  | take special pride in his receipt of this notable honor; now, | 
      
        |  | therefore, be it | 
      
        |  | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | 
      
        |  | Legislature hereby congratulate Jacob Clifton on his selection as | 
      
        |  | the 2015 Online Newspaper Editor of the Year by the Interscholastic | 
      
        |  | League Press Conference and extend to him sincere best wishes for | 
      
        |  | continued success; and, be it further | 
      
        |  | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | 
      
        |  | prepared for Mr. Clifton as an expression of high regard by the | 
      
        |  | Texas House of Representatives. |
