  4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

  1  1    Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  724.32  County courthouse == firearm
  1  2 prohibitions.
  1  3    A supreme court or judicial branch order issued prior to, on,
  1  4 or after the effective date of this Act prohibiting a person
  1  5 from going armed with, carrying, or transporting a firearm
  1  6 in a county courthouse, other than in a courtroom, shall be
  1  7 unenforceable, if going armed with, carrying, or transporting
  1  8 such a firearm is otherwise lawful under the laws of this
  1  9 state.
  1 10    Sec. 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of immediate
  1 11 importance, takes effect upon enactment.
  1 12                           EXPLANATION
  1 13 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1 14 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1 15    This bill relates to going armed with, carrying, or
  1 16 transporting a firearm in a courthouse, and providing for an
  1 17 immediate effective date.
  1 18    Under the bill, a supreme court or judicial branch order
  1 19 issued prior to, on, or after the effective date of the bill
  1 20 prohibiting a person from going armed with, carrying, or
  1 21 transporting a firearm in a county courthouse, other than in
  1 22 a courtroom, shall be unenforceable, if going armed with,
  1 23 carrying, or transporting such a firearm is otherwise lawful
  1 24 under the laws of this state.
  1 25    The bill takes effect upon enactment.
