  1  1    Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  724.4D  Limitation on employers ====
  1  2 firearms and ammunition.
  1  3    1.  For purposes of this section, "employee" includes a
  1  4 contract employee or volunteer.
  1  5    2.  An employer shall not prohibit an employee from carrying,
  1  6 transporting, or possessing a firearm or ammunition, if the
  1  7 firearm and ammunition are out of sight and inside the locked
  1  8 motor vehicle of the employee on the real property comprising
  1  9 the place of employment, and if the carrying, transportation,
  1 10 or possession of the firearm or ammunition is otherwise lawful
  1 11 under the laws of this state.
  1 12                           EXPLANATION
  1 13 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1 14 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1 15    This bill relates to the carrying, transportation, or
  1 16 possession of a firearm or ammunition in a motor vehicle at a
  1 17 place of employment.
  1 18    Under the bill, an employer shall not prohibit an employee
  1 19 from carrying, transporting, or possessing a firearm or
  1 20 ammunition, if the firearm and ammunition are out of sight
  1 21 and inside the locked motor vehicle of the employee on the
  1 22 real property comprising the place of employment, and if the
  1 23 carrying, transportation, or possession of the firearm or
  1 24 ammunition is otherwise lawful under the laws of this state.
  1 25    The bill defines "employee" to include a contract employee
  1 26 or volunteer.
