| 23 | | fewer than 50 residents. |
| 24 | | (b) The Task Force is created to research and collect |
| 25 | | information on transparency and consumer protection issues |
| 26 | | related to life care contracts. The Task Force shall review |

| 1 | | existing legal frameworks to identify all existing consumer |
| 2 | | protections for residents living in continuing care retirement |
| 3 | | communities and all areas in which more consumer protections |
| 4 | | for continuing care retirement community residents are |
| 5 | | necessary. The Task Force shall identify any shortcomings of |
| 6 | | the definition of "life care contract" in Section 2 and |
| 7 | | determine whether that definition should be expanded to include |
| 8 | | more senior living facilities. |
| 9 | | (c) The members appointed to the Task Force pursuant to |
| 10 | | subsection (a) shall be appointed no later than 30 days after |
| 11 | | the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 101st General |
| 12 | | Assembly. |
| 13 | | (d) The first meeting of the Task Force shall be no later |
| 14 | | than 30 days after all members of the Task Force have been |
| 15 | | appointed. The members of the Task Force shall receive no |
| 16 | | compensation for their services but may be reimbursed for |
| 17 | | expenses from appropriations made for that purpose. |
| 18 | | (e) The Department of Public Health shall provide |
| 19 | | administrative and other support to the Task Force. |
| 20 | | (f) The Task Force shall report its findings to the |
| 21 | | Governor and General Assembly by December 31, 2019. |
| 22 | | (G) This Section is repealed on January 1, 2020.

| 23 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 24 | | becoming law.".
