1		SENATE RESOLUTION
2		WHEREAS, It is the unalienable right of all citizens to
3		keep and bear arms for defense of life, liberty, and property
4		under the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United
5		States of America and the Bill of Rights of the Constitution of
6		the State of Illinois; and
7		WHEREAS, The legislative and executive branches of the
8		State of Illinois have unreasonably and consistently
9		encroached on the liberty of Illinoisans who wish to exercise
10		the rights secured to them under the Second Amendment to the
11		Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights of the
12		Constitution of the State of Illinois; and
13		WHEREAS, It is the responsibility of all American citizens,
14		governmental units, and elected officials to uphold, with equal
15		vigor, all of the "unalienable Rights" with which they are
16		"endowed by their Creator" and set forth in the Constitution of
17		the United States and the Bill of Rights of the Constitution of
18		the State of Illinois; and
19		WHEREAS, Certain counties in Illinois have moved to shield
20		their Constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms
21		and the economic benefits derived from the sale and operation
22		of firearms from overly-burdensome, unreasonable, and unlawful

1		government regulation; therefore, be it
2		RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
3		ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our support
4		for these counties and their decision to provide sanctuary for
5		their citizens who wish to exercise their fundamental right
6		under the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United
7		States and the Bill of Rights of the Constitution of the State
8		of Illinois.
