2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Muriel Frances Baum, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | July 17, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Muriel Baum was born on February 27, 1945 in | ||||||
6 | Chicago; her parents were Wilbur and Rita Stratton; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Muriel Baum was a massage therapist for couples' | ||||||
8 | AA retreats at Villa Desiderata Retreat Center in McHenry for | ||||||
9 | 20 years; she also worked as a barista at Starbucks, where she | ||||||
10 | had a faithful following of happy customers; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Muriel Baum attended daily Mass as often as | ||||||
12 | possible and was a Minister of Holy Communion at Santa Maria | ||||||
13 | del Popolo in Mundelein before moving to St. Peter's Catholic | ||||||
14 | Church in Antioch; she was welcomed into the lay Franciscan | ||||||
15 | Novitiate in September of 1992 and was professed into the | ||||||
16 | Secular Franciscan Order in the St. Maximilian Kolbe Fraternity | ||||||
17 | on February 13, 1994; she also volunteered at Marytown, the | ||||||
18 | National Shrine of St. Maximilian Kolbe, and in whatever | ||||||
19 | capacity the Friars needed her; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Muriel Baum was preceded in death by her husband, | ||||||
21 | Albert Steven Baum; her daughter, Mary; her parents; her |

| |||||||
1 | brother, Donald Stratton; and her brother-in-law, Billy Sink; | ||||||
2 | and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Muriel Baum is survived by her sons, Scott | ||||||
4 | (Shiona), Steven, and Robert (Tracey); her grandchildren, | ||||||
5 | Haley, Steven, Nicholas, Bryan, and Trey; her sisters, Rita | ||||||
6 | (Billy) Sink, Joann (Jim) O'Connell, Marcia (John) DeLeo, and | ||||||
7 | Kathy (Ron) Wood; her many nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, and | ||||||
8 | grand-nieces; her former daughter-in-law, Michele; her many | ||||||
9 | dear and lifetime friends; and her sister of her heart, Peggy | ||||||
10 | Esposito; therefore, be it
| ||||||
11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | ||||||
13 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Muriel Frances Baum; | ||||||
14 | and be it further

15 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
16 | presented to the family of Muriel Baum as an expression of our | ||||||
17 | sympathy.
