1		HOUSE RESOLUTION
2		WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3		Representatives wish to congratulate the people of the Republic
4		of China on the occasion of the celebration of their 104th
5		National Day; and
6		WHEREAS, National Day, as known as Double Ten Day, is the
7		national day of the Republic of China; the day commemorates the
8		start of the Wuch'ang Uprising of October 10, 1911, which led
9		to the collapse of the Qing Dynasty in China and the
10		establishment of the Republic of China on January 1, 1912, with
11		Dr. Sun Yat-sen as its first president; and
12		WHEREAS, On every National Day, the people of the Republic
13		of China and overseas Chinese from around the world come
14		together to cheer the nation on its celebration through
15		numerous events, including a military review, a national
16		parade, fireworks displays, the National Day concert, and a
17		Presidential Address; and
18		WHEREAS, The members of this body stand with the people of
19		the Republic of China in celebrating the anniversary of the
20		founding of their proud nation, which stands as a beacon of
21		democratic governance and integrity for Asia and the world at
22		large; therefore, be it

1		RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2		NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3		congratulate the people of the Republic of China on the
4		occasion of the celebration of their 104th National Day and
5		wish them continued success and happiness in their future
6		endeavors; and be it further
7		RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8		presented to the Director-General of the Taipei Economic and
9		Cultural Office in Chicago as a symbol of our esteem and
10		respect.
