       The Committee on Criminal Justice (Brandes) recommended the
       following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment to Amendment (937444) (with title
    2  amendment)

    4         Delete line 63
    5  and insert:
    6         (5) DRONE PILOT STUDY OF CRASH INVESTIGATIONS.
    7  Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, beginning July 1,
    8  2017, and ending June 30, 2019, the Department of Highway Safety
    9  and Motor Vehicles may conduct a pilot study using drones for
   10  the investigation of automobile accidents. This subsection also
   11  applies to any investigation of an automobile accident in which
   12  any law enforcement officer of the department is assisting the
   13  investigation of an automobile accident conducted by any other
   14  investigating entity. The department shall prepare a report of
   15  any use of drones for the investigation of automobile accidents
   16  and shall submit the report to the Governor, the President of
   17  the Senate, and the Speaker of the House not later than January
   18  1, 2020. The report must include, at a minimum, an assessment of
   19  any cost savings by the use of drones for the investigation of
   20  an automobile accident.
   21         (6) CONSTRUCTION.-This section shall be construed in
