       Senator Taddeo moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Between lines 886 and 887
    4  insert:
    5         (5) A school district or charter school that elects to
    6  participate in the Coach Aaron Feis Guardian Program shall
    7  establish a policy that provides notification to parents of
    8  students who will be attending a participating school and that
    9  allows parents to opt-in or out-out of having their child attend
   10  class with a teacher in the guardian program. The district
   11  school board or charter school governing board may choose
   12  whether the program allows parents to opt-in or to opt-out of
   13  participation. The policy must require that such notice be
   14  provided before the school year begins and must allow a parent
   15  to authorize or decline to allow his or her child to be placed
   16  in a classroom in which a school guardian is present at any time
   17  during the school day. A school district or a charter school may
   18  not place a student in a classroom in which a school guardian is
   19  present if the student’s parent has declined to allow his or her
   20  child to be so placed.

   23  And the title is amended as follows:
   24         Between lines 114 and 115
   25  insert:
   26         requiring school districts and charter schools that
   27         participate in the Coach Aaron Feis Guardian Program
   28         to implement a policy that provides notice to parents
   29         and allows parents to opt-in or opt-out of the
   30         program; requiring that the policy allow parents to
   31         authorize or decline to allow their children to be
   32         placed in a classroom in which a school guardian is
   33         present; prohibiting school districts and charter
   34         schools from placing in a classroom with a school
   35         guardian students whose parents have declined such
   36         authorization;
